Waste Management Billing Error

It was brought to the Borough’s attention on May 16, 2023, that Waste Management (WM) may have mistakenly billed some Borough residents for the next quarter (June 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023) despite WM’s contract with the Borough ending with their last pick-up on Friday, June 2, 2023.  If you received a bill from WM for billing period 6/1/23 to 8/31/23, do NOT pay it.  WM said this billing error occurred for a large portion of Borough residents, but not everyone.  WM has assured Borough staff that it was an unintended mistake, and if a resident does mistakenly pay this bill, they will be refunded, so please contact them at 1 (866) 909-4458 to have this corrected if you already paid this bill.  If you have autopay set up with WM, it is advised that you log into your WM account and cancel your autopay arrangement immediately and check your records to make sure you weren’t charged for this period.  Once again, if you find that you were charged and paid for the June 1 through August 31 billing cycle, contact WM for a refund. WM apologizes for any inconvenience as they actively work to correct this billing error situation.  WM’s final trash & recycling pick-up date is Friday, June 2, 2023, so place your toters curbside (even if empty) on Thursday evening, June 1, and they will be emptied the morning of Friday, June 2, and then collected/removed by WM either later that same day or in the day or so following, so leave them curbside until WM removes them permanently.

Republic Services will be the new contracted residential trash & recycling hauler for Chalfont Borough and their first pick-up will be on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, and TUESDAY will become the new weekly collection day thereafter.  A service list of addresses used by Waste Management was supplied to Republic Services for the purpose of setting up your account in advance.  Republic Services will be dropping off their new toters to residents sometime during the week of May 22, 2023.  Republic’s first invoice to residents was going to be mailed the week of 5/15/23, but Republic informed Borough staff on 5/16/23 that they were able to delay that first invoice until after their toters have been delivered.   For those residents who are aged 62 and older that had been receiving a senior discount from Waste Management, it is advised that you wait until after receiving your first invoice from Republic Services to see if you were “grandfathered” into the senior discount, and if not, please call their customer service department at 215-723-0400 to arrange for this.  Proof of identity/age/address may be needed.
