Park Ave & Ferry Rd – Water Main Construction
From the office of North Wales Water Authority regarding the upcoming water main project on Park Avenue and Ferry Road in New Britain Township:
The water main installation project will start on April 10, 2023. This water main project involves the water treatment plant (Forest Park Water Treatment Plant) located in Chalfont Borough connecting to Plumstead Township. The water main will be installed on Park Avenue and then along Ferry Road to Swamp Road (Rt 313) totaling just over 25,000 linear feet of new 16-inch water main. (See maps which are posted on NWWA’s web site.) The majority of the work is proposed to be in one lane of traffic, but for the SAFETY of all, the road will be closed to all through-traffic between working intersections as it progresses. The contractor will allow any emergency vehicles, school buses and all local residents to their point of local destination to pass the work activity in one lane of traffic. It is expected that the contractor will do their best in permitting local traffic through the construction zone, but it will undoubtedly cause some minor delays in traffic flow. All individuals are asked to avoid traveling in the construction activity zone unless their travel is absolutely necessary.
The initial construction work hours and road closures are scheduled to be 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on weekdays staring on April 10, 2023. While Park Avenue construction is scheduled to be fully completed by August 31, 2023, the entire project is also currently scheduled to be completed by the end of December of 2023.
You will notice on NWWA’s web site that only one detour map is currently posted. This will be updated weekly to identify a more defined work area, and as the work progresses onto Ferry Road additional detour routes will be posted.
