The second reading of Ordinance 441 regarding changes to parking within the Borough was held during the October 10, 2017 Council meeting. Council passed this ordinance.
On August 8, 2017 at 7:00pm, Borough Council passed Ordinance 434 regarding a LERTA map boundary and LERTA ordinance. The LERTA ordinance approves the designation of an area of the borough in which new construction of industrial, commercial or other business property and improvements to industrial, commercial or other business property are eligible for a tax exemption pursuant to the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act. In our case Council will be considering 100% exemption for 5 years for any new improvements (base taxes will still be paid at the current rate, only taxes imposed on the additional assessed value from the improvement will be waived). The LERTA boundary map specifies which properties will be eligible for tax exemption in accordance with the proposed ordinance. The purpose of this action is to drive revitalization to our Borough Core. Residents interested or with questions about this ordinance are encouraged to call the Borough Manager.
