After months of sorting and cataloging historical records of
Chalfont Borough, we are happy to announce the availability of
Chalfont Borough Archives, 1901 - 1980 to the general public.
A Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission grant was awarded to
the borough in 2006 for the preservation of historical documents
and records. Borough staff and volunteers, primarily Mayor
Marilyn J. Becker, spent many hours sorting and cataloging material
stored at 500 North Main Street. Through the grant monies received,
we were able to purchase acid free, archive quality storage
materials and install archive shelving in the historical bank vault
in Borough Hall. This is where the materials have found a
home.
A list of the archived material is available by clicking on the
link to Chalfont Borough Archives, 1901 - 1980. To request
access to particular information, please download the Archive
Request Form and return it to Borough Hall, attention: Borough
Secretary. Due to the important historical nature of the
archived material, public access is available by appointment, for
one hour intervals, during the normal business hours of the borough
office. You may make an appointment by contacting the Borough
Secretary at 215-822-7295. Please note that archived personnel
records and related documents are not available to the public.
