Borough Council

The Charter stipulates that a Council of seven (7) members be elected at large. The Charter stipulates that Council shall have the following powers and duties (but not by way of limitation). Please note that this is not a complete list of Council's authority.

Make appropriations, prepare the budget, incur debts.
Adopt, amend and repeal the Administrative Code to provide for the safety and welfare of the Citizens of the Borough.
Create, alter, combine and abolish municipal departments (provided that Council shall create agencies, boards, and commissions related to Municipal Planning to operate under terms and conditions set forth in Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Act 247, 1968, as amended) See Planning Commission.
To levy taxes.
To hold public hearings on any matter.
